Air Deccan - first time

I had to travel to Chennai and came via Air Deccan. I was getting into Bangalore airport after a long time and its a total mess !!! With all the new airlines, these guys have no clue how to manage the crowd. It will soon look like out railway station.
Air Deccan - The fares are good. The service is not bad. Its a no frills airline. My first look at the aircraft and I thought to myself "It looks like a toy!!". Well, to be more precise, this is what I thought "It looks like a bus with wings". Anyway, the flight was just under an hour. They could do with some pest control inside!! I had a window seat and as the aircraft was taking off I can see a small cockroach running up the window! I can just see me jumpimg out of my seat if it had been a little bigger!!
The in house magazine is good for such a recent one. But, I wish they had not copied the Jet Wings magazine and had tried something different.
The flight was smoother than my experiences with Jet ! The landing was good. I have never had that smooth landing from ANY Jet flight. Nothing against Jet. But I was impressed with the landing.
The food was on par with that provided by Jet. I had to pay for it. No complaints. I bought what I needed and there was no wastage.
I looked for a suggestion form and could not find one.
Anyway, thats my first Air Deccan flight.

I am taking a Kingfisher flight next month and I am looking forward to it after hearing all the hype.

So, Air Deccan may live upto the name of fulfilling the common man's dream to fly, but they do need to buck up a little with what I hear about the competition.

Did not expect that !

Well, there were rumors that 'this' person will die in the Half Blood Prince. But I always argued against this. Maybe it was wishful thinking.
The book was great.. But I am disappointed that J.K.Rowling chose to kill this character.
Obviously I cant relieve the name. It would be a spoiler for the millions of fans out there.

Hooked on Sudoku

For the last 1 month, I am totally hooked on this game. Its really interesting. The first thing I do when I take the paper is go and finish this puzzle. And the challenge is to keep reducing the time I take to finish it.
I have never been much of a 'crossword' person, but this simple and interesting puzzle has me hooked.
Go try it..

Mallu Land

Thanks for all your wishes.
No, I did not get married "Just Like That" as some of you have asked. We have been waiting for this for almost 5 years. I did not want to jinx it by saying anything. So, thats the reason for the silence; and of course, the loads of work that had to be done.
We had only a close circle of friends for the wedding. People who know us well and could really share our happiness on the occasion. We did do away with a lot of rituals and had only the most essential ones.
He is a Mallu and I am TamBram. So, we had a TamBram wedding, but shortened to almost Mallu time. We had only the Kanyadhanam and Sapthapadhi.
And then we went to mallu land. It was awesome!!
There was a stream running right and behind his house.. and about 100 feet away, the paddy fields start and beyond that you can see the mountains. The approach to his place was like entering a differnt world. It was like a resort, and since it was raining almost all the time, the weather was perfect.
So, here are some snaps from kerala.

These are some snaps taken by my husband. He is an amateur photographer.

And on the way back, we met this beautiful baby.

Back as Mrs.

Well, Here I am, back with a new title. "Mrs".
There was loads of work to be done for the wedding and hence my silence.
More to come.

Railway reservation counter at the airport

I found a railway reservation counter at the Bangalore aiport. This is
really useful for so many travellers.
I think they should bring up more of these kind of counters and reduce
the load they have on booking counters at Cantontment, Indranagar and
other BDA complexes.

Happy Birthday to me !!

Mumbai and its taxi drivers !!!

I had to make a trip to Mumbai. I landed in Kurla station and this taxi guy kept taggig along and asking me where I wanted to go. Ignoring him, I reached the taxi stand. He kept nagging me and against my better judgement, I decided to go with that guy. (I am still wondering why the hell I did that!)
We had to go to Vile Parle. Normally, I would go via Andheri, but this guy said that road is blocked and took me through Sion , Bandra and the whole works ! (For those of you who dont know Bombay, this is a round about route). When I got down at my destination, the bill was 400 bucks !!! This guy was looting me and I could not do anything about it.
I got down and paid him 400 and walked into the apartment. He came back and gave me back a 100 and said, "Give me a different note. This is torn.". I took that from him. My dad came and took out a 500. He then gave back 300 bucks (the original amt I gave him). When I asked him for the 100 change for the 500, he said that I have already given that you.
And That is when Hell broke loose !!! I lost my cool then.
Its bad enough that he was cheating me on the meter; but this was going way beyond greedy. There ensued a heated argument with me and my dad on one side and this guy acting like a smart ass on the other side.
My dad got into his vehicle and said, lets go to the police station. He did not bother and got it. My dad took his vehicle key and came out !!
This was getting worse. I was tired and hungry and wanted to end this.
I just noted down his number and told him to go with the money. I will report him to the station. ( My phone battery was dead and I coulc not call then).
Then, the guy realised it was time to give away the 100 and go with what he had looted initially. He gave back the 100 and asked me for the paper where I had noted down the number; I just ignored him and walked off.
And that was the beginning to the Mumbai trip.
But thankfully the rest of the trip was fine !

When I told my friends about this, they said that this us very common in Mumbai.
So, all you people out there, beware of these taxi drivers.

Blogger has been blocked at office. :-(
Thats the reason I am not able to comment on quite a few good posts I have been reading the last 10 days.
Only thing is, I dont have time to login from home and do some blog hopping. Its going to be very hectic for the next few weeks..
Saw "Basha" for the nth time today and I still enjoy it. :-)
I am yet to see Chandramukhi and Mumbai Express.
I have been reading the reviews and am looking forward to seeing both. Hope to find time for this soon.
Why are there no teasers on TV for Chandramukhi ?

Road Blockers !

I stay at the end of a narrow road.. its just about enough for 2 large vehicles to go through.
There is an apartment coming up at the beginning of this road. For the past 1 week, the trucks and lorries coming with material for this road, block the road. There is hardly 2 feet left for other vehicles to go. To top it all, they have dumped all their stones and mud onto the road.
I am not sure which authority I can complain to regarding this.
Anyone can help me out?

Mumbai Express in Hindi

Chandramukhi is being screened in Innovative Multiplex and at PVR.
Mumbai Express also.. but in Hindi !! This is a let down. They could have had atleast one of the shows as Tamil.. But I guess they wanted to avoid the confusion.
